No surprise: it’s Peter Marino, the archistar who revolutionized the concept of the high end boutiques worldwide ( Chanel, Dior, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Ermenegildo Zegna, to name a few), and created some of the most exquisite spaces for the rich& famous ( from Agnelli to Warhol and everyone in between). Marino was named Design Miami's first Design Visionary during the event this week for his work and influence across the different fields of design.His signature “all-black-leather” looksurely clashes with the purity, the lightness and the chic of his design. Video screens and large photographs are arranged in a circle around a central seating area filled with dark-coloured flowers. The final space is dedicated to Marino's set design work, particularly the stage he created for a production of Christophe Willibald Gluck's opera Orfeo ed Euridice that took place in his New York home last year. Strips of black leather – a key material in the architect's outlandish wardrobe – line a room showcasing cast-bronze boxes designed by Marino alongside black and white nude photography.Īnother area is dedicated to portraits of Marino, shown wearing his signature leather outfits.
